Wyvetta Essig, age 76 of Toledo, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 where she was surrounded by her loving family at Hickory Ridge of Temperance. She was born on September 5, 1935 to Arthur and Estel (Thompson) Gipson in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Wyvetta enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, especially her rose bushes; going to auctions and garage sales; caring for her pets that she gave a wonderful home to; playing euchre and attending church services with her son-in-law. Most important to Wyvetta was her family, especially the grandchildren; she often put their needs before her own. Her family will remember the delicious meals that she prepared for them, especially her homemade pies! She will be dearly missed by all that knew her and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of nearly 57 years, Herman "Sonny" Essig; children, Wava (Gene) Smedlund, Mike (Libby) Essig, Alyson (Richard) Wagner and Stacey (Garrick) Stubblefield; son-in-law, Brennan Channer; grandchildren, Angie, Nikki (Grant), Gene, Alyc, Katye, Sam, Jordan, Andréa, Aimee, Matt, Zak, Abby and Logan; great-grandchildren, Makayla, Hayden, Evelyn, David, and Jaxton; special extended family, Cory, Debbie, Becki, Becky, Emma, Aaron, Raquel and Christian. In addition to her parents, Wyvetta was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Kim Channer on May 29, 2012; one brother and two sisters.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, August 11, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Memorial Services will begin in the funeral home on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Robin Ramos officiating.
