Winifred E. Carr, age 80 of Temperance, Michigan passed away Friday, March 4, 2005 in St. Vincent Mercy Hospital. She was born September 9, 1924 to Harold and Verna Jean (Hope) Cupp in Toledo. She was a loving wife and mother active in her family's life. Winifred was a longtime member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for 30 years and sang in the choir for 40 years. She was also involved with the Women's Church Groups for many years. Winifred was a 60 year member and Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lotus Chapter #477 and a Past Royal Matron of the Christina Court #21 Order of the Amaranth, Inc. Winifred was employed with Ohio Citizens Trust for many years and retired from Friendly Ice Cream after many years.
In addition to her parents, Winifred was preceded in death by her son, David Allen Carr. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, William Carr; son, Roger L. Carr of Lenexa, KS and future daughter-in-law, Janet Billadeau; brother, Russell (Alice) Cupp of Marion, OH; sister, Jean (Eugene) Ritter of Toledo and special friends, Thomas and Terry Borton and family; Richard Wyman and family and Judy Leninger.
The family will receive guests Monday from 2-8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Eastern Star Services will be Monday at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Lori Strange. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church.
