Wilmer "Bill" Davis, age 96, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Otterbein of Perrysburg. He was born on July 28, 1920 to Luther and Nettie (Whittaker) Davis in Clay County, Tennessee. Bill was the owner of Davis Excavating with his son until retiring in 1989. He enjoyed winters in Florida for many years and Lake Erie perch fishing with his grandson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Creola Davis; brothers, Elmer and Arthur Davis; sister, Velma Riebe; and beloved niece, Nelda Semon. Bill is survived by his loving children, Bill (Reba) Davis and Sandy (Doug) Fisher; grandchildren, Scott Fisher, Shawn (Dannie) Fisher-Johnson, Chrissy Fisher, Jennifer (Chad) Buckenmeyer, Danny (Michelle) Davis, Cynthia (Mike) Siedler, Greg (Kim) King and Joyce (Tim) Culbreath; 23 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive guests on Monday from 4 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
