Wilma L. Rate

Wilma L. Rate, age 94, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Spring Meadows Extended Care Facility. She was born on April 4, 1917 to Fred and Mabel (Belcore) Ehrbright in Toledo. Wilma was employed with Libbey Glass as a payroll clerk for over 25 years before retiring. She was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Church, Ottawa River Yacht Club Ladies Auxiliary, S.T.A.R.S., A.A.R.P., and the Friendship Park Family Center. Wilma loved to play Bingo, crochet, embroider, bowl and take casino trips. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Rate; brother, Eugene Ehrbright; granddaughter, Suzette Showalter; infant grandson, Scotty Payne; son-in-law, Thomas Payne; and grandson-in-law, Tom Rink. Wilma is survived by her loving daughters, Beverly (James) Fox and Shirley Payne; 4 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Friday from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
