Willis "Bill" Detter
Willis "Bill" Detter passed away on his birthday, Tuesday, April 11th, 2006 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in 1925 to Phillip and Elizabeth (Frank) Detter. Bill was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran proudly serving his country from 1944-46. He married Doris (Barney) on September 15, 1947 and they spent 58 wonderful years together. Bill was employed with General Motors Transmission Plant, Toledo, retiring in 1985. He loved to play golf, work outside in his yard and watch the Detroit Tigers play baseball.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Betty L. Cheney in December 2000. He is survived by his wife, Doris Detter, daughters, Vicki (Lonnie) Hoepf; Kristine Detter and Connie Wittman and Jay, grandsons, Ryan Wittman and Zachary Hoepf; brothers, Walt (Dottie) and Orville (Margaret) Detter and sister, Magdalen Grieser.
The family will receive guests Saturday from 3-8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). A Memorial Service will begin at 5:00 p.m.
