William Tattersall

March 14, 1937 — December 18, 2020

William "Gramps" Arthur Tattersall, age 83, of Toledo, passed away December 18, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Gramps was born March 14, 1937 in Toledo to the late Arthur and Dorothy (Shook) Tattersall. He was a graduate of Whitmer High School and honorably served in the United States Army Reserves. Gramps married the love of his life, Mayo on December 10, 1993. He worked at Barton Tattersall Inc. as a Mason and later took over the family business with his brother John. He was also a Member of the Brick Layer's Union. Some of his work consisted of constructing the Rosary Cathedral, Toledo Art Museum and several other staple buildings throughout Toledo.

Gramps lived life to the fullest. He had a passion for Late Model Racing, and he won the 2008 Championship at Oakshade Raceway. Throughout his years, Gramps appreciated the outdoors on the ground fishing and hunting or in the air flying a plane. Other interests included bowling, golfing, Ohio State football, NASCAR racing and traveling.

In addition to his parents, William was also preceded in death by his Sister, Ruth Brown and Brother, John Tattersall. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Mayo Tattersall; children: Steven Tattersall, Christine (Craig) Sobczak and Breanné (Jordan) Schotter; brothers: Richard (Sandra) Tattersall and Art (Jenny) Tattersall; grandchildren: Zachary, Haven, Jalena, Julian, Jayden, Merikole, Jordan, Christian and Greyson; Many extended family members, and many dear friends at Oakshade Raceway as well as those who frequented the Knotty Pine Café.

A celebration of his life will take place next year at a time to be determined.
