William "Bill" C. Schonherr, 79, of Maumee, passed away February 3, 2021 at his home. William was born January 7, 1942 in Detroit to William and Cecile Schonherr.
He graduated from Berkley High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force proudly serving his country as Airman First Class in the Vietnam War. On April 7, 1962 Bill married the love of his life, Nelda Jackson in Abilene, TX. He worked at Jeep for 19 years until his retirement.
After Bill retired he would work on cars in his home garage where he would fix them up and give them a new paint job, making them ready to sell. For many years, he rented out space at a flea market where he would sell all his finds. Bill and his wife, Nell, had a love for casinos.
Bill spent many summers camping at Twin Acres with many of his friends where he would enjoy fishing and campfires. Most of all he treasured the memories he made with his grandchildren. Bill will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Nelda "Red" Schonherr; daughter, Kelly (Jarrod) Mosley; grandchildren, Chelsea Spychalski, Pamela, Jordan; great-grandchildren, Elliot and Lilliana; sister, Pauline Allen; brother, David (Cheryl) Schonherr; any many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Pamela Schonherr; sister, Barbara Rath; and his boy, Shilo.
The family will receive guests Tuesday, February 9, 2021 from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 11:00 am. at the funeral home with an additional hour of visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Toledo.
