William R. Sader, 67, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, after a long illness. He was under the care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
He and his wife, Patricia (DiLorenzo), met when her family moved to Nopper Gardens and he went to her house to sell them The Toledo Blade. Bill was her paperboy and liked to tease her about watching Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons in her curlers when he came over to collect. They were married in 1967. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Family vacations included many trips to the Great Smoky Mountains.
Bill was a lifetime Toledo resident. His parents were Margaret and Don Sader (both are deceased). He attended Central Catholic High School and trained at Macomber for his tool and die apprenticeship.
Bill had a long career in the automotive stamping industry, including almost 20 years each at Bingham's Stamping and Reichert Stamping. At Reichert, he worked his way up from tool and die maker to Director of Tooling. He helped to develop tooling for the ignition tubes on the first airbags for cars. He was an enthusiastic problem-solver and worked in semi-retirement at Continental Metals as a steel salesman and tooling consultant.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; their children, Jennifer (Jesse Squire), Pam (Ryan) Nicholson, and Sheri (Matthew) Poling. They have four grandchildren, Madalyn, William, Max, and Luke. He is also survived by his sisters, Karen Schuller and Bonnie (Dave) Mitchell. He was preceded in death by siblings, Donna Meyer, Harold and Peggy.
An open house will be held on Sunday, October 12 beginning 1 p.m. at Nederhouser Community Hall at Olander Park, 6930 Sylvania Avenue, Sylvania, Ohio. A memorial service will be held starting at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Goodwill Spiritualist Church, or the National Park Foundation.
