Bill went to join his best friend, Charles Striecher from Stateline Auto Sales & Parts in the early morning hours on Wednesday, October 17, 2012. These two were "HONEST" used-car salesmen. If you didn't know Bill from Stateline; you may have known him from delivering an appliance or a piece of furniture to you. He worked for Package Delivery for 15 years. Many knew and respected him for being a "dad" to his six children, to their friends and the neighborhood kids. Bill made sure they knew right from wrong.
Bill and his wife Elaine celebrated their 50th anniversary on February 17, 2012. Together they enjoyed traveling to southern Ohio with their U-Haul trailer and their dogs. He owned many different kinds of campers throughout the years; most memorable was the old school bus.
Bill celebrated his 81st birthday on Father's Day this year and the family chose this year for the big celebration because the number 81was significant to him; it was his number on his car when he raced at Fremont Speedway. On his cake there was a picture of him with his favorite Nascar drivers car and it read, "who's the real winner? YOU ARE DAD!" And that was the truth!
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Elaine; children, Connie (Lou) Norman, Jeff (Terry) Geiner, Dan (Lois) Geiner, Rob Geiner, Sherry (Mike) Cornett and Deb (Hank) Hoppe; many precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren; loving sister, Juanita Evans; sister-in-law, Onalee Maher; many nieces and nephews; friends, Barb & Howard and Nancy & Arnold and beloved canine companions, Buddy and Missy.
The family will receive guests on Friday from 3-8:00 p.m. and Saturday from Noon – 2:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Willow Cemetery in Oregon.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Toledo Area Humane Society or to Nature's Nursery.
