On October 30, 2011 at 2:00 AM Bill passed away at the Swan Pointe Care Center in Maumee where he had been in residence since July.
Born July 30, 1930 in East Moline Illinois; he moved to Wyoming Illinois in 1934 where his mother taught school for many years. He graduated from Bradley University in Peoria Illinois and joined the Marine Corps Officer Candidate School. After spending two years in the Marine Corps, one in Korea, he took a job with the First National Bank of Portland Oregon in Klamath Falls. On an assignment to the Ashland branch he met Helen Rykken; they married in 1956. Bill spent 25 years working in banks in Oregon, California, Nevada, and Wisconsin. During that time he earned a degree in Commercial Credit Lending from the University of Wisconsin and the University of Oklahoma.
While in California he commanded a reserve unit of the Marine Corps from Tulare California during their two weeks of reserve training at 29 Palms Marine Corp Base. He later rose to the rank of Captain.
Bill worked for a number of companies as a financial adviser, and several as a work-out specialist in Chapter 11 Bankruptcies. Before retiring in 2005 he spent ten years as the Office Manager in the Auditors of State of Ohio; Toledo Office.
Bill is survived by his wife Helen of 55 years, their children Eric of Island City, Oregon, Linda of Shelby Township, Michigan, and Sandra of Palatine, Illinois, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Bill was a member of St. Andrews Methodist Church on Heatherdowns. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on November 18 at St. Andrews Methodist Church. Lunch to follow.
