January 1, 1947 — April 5, 2021

William J. McCaster, 74 (affectionately known as Romie), transitioned to eternal life peacefully surrounded with his loving family by his side on Monday April 6, 2021. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on January 1, 1947 to Charles and Frances McCaster. He grew up in Swanton, Ohio and attended Spencer Sharples High School where he was involved in football and gymnastics.

Pastor McCaster began his religious journey at the age of five. He was ordained by Pastor Fred Blanton in 1975 and Pastor Howard Steward in in 1978 at First Missionary Baptist Church. He graduated from the International Bible Institute of Florida where he earned a Bachelor Degree in Theology and later began his career in the ministry. He was instrumental in founding Christ Inspirational Ministries which broadcasted Sunday night sermons on WKLP. He also collaborated with Deacon Lionel Hueston and Minister Marcella to minister to handicapped individuals at the Northwest Ohio Development Center. He pastored for a year at State Line Baptist Church, served as the Christian Education overseer at New Prospect Baptist Church and served as an Evangelist for St John Baptist Church located in Meadville, PA under the direction of Pastor Thomas Quinn. He established Eloheim Ministries and took pride in visiting the sick and shut-in and providing Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets to those in need. On December 18, 2011, he was called to pastor at First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor McCaster loved the Lord wholeheartedly and was passionate about the ministry.

William served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 and was honorably discharged and retired from Chrysler Jeep as a Group Leader in February 2011.

When not ministering, he enjoyed watching The Ohio State Football team, boxing and basketball. He loved to cook, travel and spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren that he visited often. He was lovingly known as "Pops" to many and was a beloved pastor, father, brother, uncle, friend and confidant that touched the lives of those who crossed his path.
