On June 11, 2009 a shining light was extinguished as the Lord came to ease the struggle for William M. Buckles, 69 of Toledo, OH. He was born to Lewis and Beatrice Buckles on Oct. 24, 1939. He graduated from Scott High School in 1958 and married the love of his life, Barbara, in 1959 and would have been celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on November 28th 2009.
Bill or "Buck" as they called him retired from GM Powertrain with 43 years under his belt. From that point on he enjoyed everything about life. He loved camping in Coldwater, Michigan, fishing off his pontoon boat and golfing with his sons and buddies. He was a very active and devoted member of Liberty Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, he loved his family and was always extremely proud of his children and grandchildren and their accomplishments. We were blessed with the greatest father ever who instilled in us what it meant to have a close and loving family. For that we will be forever grateful.
William will be dearly missed by his loving family; wife, Barbara, sons, William (Mary) Buckles, Garrett (Elizabeth) Buckles, daughters, Tanya Morrin and Dawn(Travis) Woodbury. His 11 grandchildren, Justin(Wendy) Buckles, Megan(Alex) Hem, Kobi and Cassi Buckles, Jordyn, Peyton, Alexandra Weng, Savanah & Dane Morrin, Travis Jr. and Presley Woodbury and great grandchild Colin Hem. He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Beatrice Buckles and son-in-law Kreg Morrin. He will also be greatly missed by his brother-in-law Jim(Jan) VanHorn, sister-in-law Joyce(Thurman) Heatherly and many newphews and nieces.
Family and friends are invited to come on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2009. Pastor Rick Rust, officiating.
