William L. "Bill" Hakius, age 84, of Toledo, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, Ohio. He was born on June 15, 1929 to Ralph John and Susan Amelia (Gotthart) Hakius in Toledo, Ohio.
Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict era. He worked at Pilkington as a glass worker, retiring after 32 years of dedicated service. Bill was a member of the local Glassworkers Union AFL-CIO. One of Bill's passions was collecting guns and knives. He often attended local gun shows and was a member of the N.R.A.
Bill took great pleasure in being a part of his children and grandchildren's lives and activities. He always looked forward to letters and phone calls that he would receive from his sister, Sue.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, William R. "Rick" (Michelle) Hakius of Toledo; daughter, Nancy L. Hakius of Toledo; sister, Sue Deeren of West Melbourne, FL; grandchildren, Christina Hakius, Crystal Saleh; great-grandchildren, Makayla Tasker, Christian Tasker, Jenna Jade, Arianna Saleh and Derrick Saleh, Jr. Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
A private Celebration of Bill's Life will be held at a later date for his family.
