William T. "Bill" Kerlin, Sr., age 86, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Monday, August 14, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 31, 1931 to Iles and Hazel (Broadstock) Kerlin in Toledo. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was employed with Coca-Cola for 30 years before retiring. Bill was a member of AMVets, Knights of Pythias, Dramatic Order Knights of Khorassan (DOKK), and Fraternal Order of the Eagles Post 2322. He loved camping, going to the casino and playing cards, especially euchre.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty Kerlin; brother, Iles Kerlin, Jr; and sister, Betty Durbin. Bill is survived by his loving children, William (Kay Soltesz), Jr., Rick, Jim and Anna Kerlin; and Tim (Meloney) Post; grandchildren, Autumn, Noah, William III (Jolene) and Anita (David); great-grandson, Zachary; and many dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 2 – 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Pythian Services beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home followed by Funeral Services officiated by Pastor Dan Adams.
