William “Bill” Hultz, 81, passed away at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, on August 11, 2024. Bill was born on October 14, 1942 to Clarence & Genevieve Hultz in Toledo, OH. He graduated from Woodward High School in 1962. He worked at Food Town as a meat cutter and meat department manager for almost 40 years. He loved his Food Town family and still met with his fellow meat cutters regularly for breakfast.
Bill met Beth Ann Litten at Hinkle’s Skateland in Perrysburg, OH when they were teenagers. They were married on June 25, 1966. Beth Ann’s parents, Bob & Betty Litten, were fantastic musicians, and Bill was a wonderful drummer. Bill joined Bob & Betty’s band and played many weddings and events in their day.
Bill and Beth Ann had two daughters, Rochelle (“Shelly”) and Janel. Bill was happily involved with the girls activities, including the West Toledo YMCA Swim Team and the Start High School Band. He was always eager and willing to jump up and volunteer.
Bill deeply loved fly fishing. After Food Town closed, he went on to work in the Fly Fishing Department at Cabela’s. He joked that he was once a meat cutter with the love of flying fishing, but he turned into a fly fisherman with the love of meat cutting. His fishing buddies and best friends, Jack Wrobel and Ron Slomkowski, enjoyed many fishing trips together to the Au Sable River in Grayling, MI.
Bill was a longtime member of Mayfair Plymouth Church/Marketplace Church. He truly found the Lord at Mayfair Plymouth Church, alongside his family. He was even baptized in the pond of fellow church member on August 25, 2013. Bill took so much pride in helping his daughter Shelly with their local community food pantry for many years.
Through Bill’s love of music, he became very involved in The Black Swamp Blues Society, and even got to play drums on Beale Street in Memphis, TN. He made many wonderful friends though local music, and cherished the time he was able to spend on stage preforming with his Blues Society friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Genevieve Hultz, his in-laws, Robert “Bob” & Betty Litten, and his friend, Ronald “Ron” Slomkowski. Bill is survived by his loving family: Beth Ann Hultz; Shelly & Dan Kirsch; Janel, Rodney & Emma Hough; Devin, Kali, Gabriel & Gideon Kirsch; Dillon, Selena & Eliana Kirsch; Tony & Alayna Robles; fishing buddy Jack Wrobel, and many other extended family and wonderful friends.
