William H. "Bill" Bensch, age 93, of Ottawa Lake, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2015 where he was surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 18, 1922 to William H. and Marcella (Ickes) Bensch in Toledo. Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during WWII as a rear gunner having flown in a B24 bomber. He was a lifelong member of the Local 50 Plumbers Union and retired after over 30 years of service. Bill bred and raced thoroughbred horses in his later years.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 62 years, Jean (Kervin) Bensch; sons, William (Darlene) and Jeffrey Bensch; grandchildren, Carrie, Hilary,Joey, Jake, Kate and Bailey; 9 great-grandchildren; many brothers and sisters in law. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Bensch.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 from 4-7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
