William F. Meinzer, 77, passed away on August 23, 2013. He was born on May 20, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Bill started working in 1955 as an Engraver and retired in 1990 from Owens-Illinois after 35 ½ years as the Corrugated Quality Manager of the Glass Container Division. He graduated from Macomber High School in 1955. Bill played basketball at the YMCA and also in the Owens-Illinois League. He went on to coach his three sons in CYO Basketball for many years. Bill was a fixture at his grandsons' games. He was a huge OSU Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and Indians fan. Bill was an organizer of the Atwood Golf Group and always looked forward to their yearly week-long trip. He was also the President of the Westwood Rams Booster Club. Bill had many life-long friends that he loved to golf, bowl and travel with.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Gale. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sandy; children, Craig (Cindy), Kim, Mark (Virg Rogers), Bryan and Stacy (Sean) Fedrick; grandsons , Corey and Colin and many close friends.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 from Noon-5:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). A Memorial Service will begin at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or CYO Athletics.
