William C. "Bill" Baldwin, Sr., age 78, of Toledo, Ohio, passed on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Franciscan Care Center. He was born in Fremont, Ohio on January 11, 1938 to Nelson and Charlotte (Schlunz) Baldwin. Bill graduated from Salem Oak Harbor High School, Class of 1956. Bill proudly served in the Army National Guard, having trained at Fort Knox, KY. He worked for the railroad for 43 years, including New York and PennCentral, Conrail, Amtrak and retired from CSX, active in his Local UTU 102. Bill was a member at VFW Post 606 and a Mason with the Toledo Fort Industry Lodge 144. He was a parishioner and choir member at The Lutheran Church of Our Saviour.
He enjoyed fishing and golfing, avid at cards and crosswords. Always rooted for Detroit Tigers and Ohio State. In his later years, he enjoyed the friendship with others at the Eleanor Kahle Senior Center.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Lou (Peters) Baldwin; children, Leeann (Fred) Barker, Bill C. (Angie) Baldwin, Jr., Tom (Debbie) Baldwin and Tony (Shelly) Baldwin; grandchildren, Chris, Mike (Liz), Samm and Billy; numerous step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; brothers, Gary (Jean), Dave (Carolyn) and Carl (Karen); brother in law, Tom (Penny) Peters and sister in law, Suzie Peters.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, February 21, 2016 from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). His Memorial Service will begin on Monday, February 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at The Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, 2820 W. Alexis Rd., Toledo, OH 43613, where the family will gather an hour before the service.
