William "Dewey" Burton, Jr., 91, passed away peacefully on August 28th, 2011. He was born on July 6th, 1920 to the late William and Vesta Burton in Grand Rapids, MI.
Dewey was an Army veteran of WWII, he served in New Guinea Luzon. He received the Meritorius Unit Award, Victory Medal WWII, American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon W/2 Bronze Stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon W/1 Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct Medal. Dewey enjoyed spending time at the Zablocki Senior Center with his good friends, especially Irene.
In addition to his parents, Dewey was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine. Left to cherish his memory are Mary, Richard and Lonnie; sister, Donnabelle Wirth; his furry friend, Ryleigh and special "grandchildren", Aaron, Kennidee, Cameron, Isebella and Emilio.
Special thanks to Jim & Bill the drivers from the senior center that transported Mr. Burton to & from the center where he has been a member since 2008.
The Family would like to also thank West Toledo Healthcare, St. Vincent Hospital(Heart Center), and Hospice for all of the wonderful care given to Dewey.
Private Military Honors will take place.
