William Burns, Jr.

May 29, 1925 — January 4, 2013

William "Billy" Burns, Jr., entered into the gates of heaven January 4, 2013. Billy was born to the union of William Sr. and Margaret Burns, May 29, 1925. He was a graduate from Libbey High School in 1943. After graduation he served in the U.S. Navy.

He was employed by Doehler Jarvis, Pepsi Cola Company and retired from Continental Baking (Wonder Bread) in 1983 as a route supervisor.

Besides loving his family, he had a great love for traveling, fishing and boating. His love for boating led him to be an instructor in the US Power Squadron for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virgie, father William Sr., mother, Margaret, and brother, Nathaniel. Billy is survived by his daughter, Karen (Robert) Jones, granddaughter, Cheryl (Andy) Higgins and two great-grandsons, William and Sean, a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive guests Thursday, January 10, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). The family will also receive guests Friday, January 11, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Norman and Louise Jones Foundation.
