William “Bill” L Borer, a beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, passed away on December 23, 2024, In Toledo, Ohio, surrounded by his family. Born on September 19, 1955, Bill graduated from Whitmer High School in 1973, Electrical apprenticeship school in 1978 and dedicated over 44 years of his life to his career as a Union electrician for IBEW Local 8, following in the footsteps of his father. His love for fishing, camping, NASCAR and watching his favorite sport teams were only rivaled by his love for his wife Cindy. Known for his trademark long red hair and nicknames from Willy to Wilbur, he found great comfort in spending quality time with his immediate and extended family members too numerous to mention. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Cindy Borer, his sons, Ben (Jen) Borer, Michael Borer, as well as Elizabeth Fry and his cherished grandchildren, Zachary, Nolan, Elliott, Maxim and Nico. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Norma Borer. Visitation will be held on Thursday January 2nd, 2025 from 2pm to 8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo, located at 4150 W. Laskey Rd, Toledo, OH 43623. The funeral service will take place on Friday January 3rd, 2025, at 10am, with interment to follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Bill will be remembered by all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy that will endure through the memories shared by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Toledo Electrical Benevolent Fund and envelopes will be available at the funeral Home. Donation checks to the Toledo Electrical Benevolent Fund should be made out directly to Bill's wife, Cindy Borer.
