Bill repeatedly said that he had done everything he wanted to do and was grateful to the Lord for Dorothy, his loving wife of 58 years, family and friends.
He was the son of Dr. William H. and Maxine Bonser.
Bill, an avid sportsman, enjoyed tennis, squash, fishing, boating (most of all), and played varsity football and baseball at Maumee Valley Country Day School. He then went on to pharmacy school at the University of Toledo where he earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees. He became pharmacy director at a local hospital following his internship there. While there, he upgraded pharmacy practice to a patient-focused department including clinical and outpatient services. He was particularly proud of his pioneering development of hospital pharmacy software at a time when none was available and of forging a pharmacy internship rotation with The University of Freiburg, Germany. Additionally, he founded and directed the Toledo Association of Hospital Pharmacy Directors: a group dedicated to mutual problem solving, improved efficiency, better patient care, and cost reduction. Bill was also a guest lecturer on pharmacy jurisprudence in institutional pharmacy, and was an adjunct associate professor at the University of Toledo. He was keenly interested in the relationship between pharmacists' working conditions and the resulting quality of their practice. This became the subject of his master's thesis research that was published in the American Journal of Health System Pharmacists.
His memberships included Park Church, at which he served as a deacon, a member of the board of trustees and on the worship team. He and Dorothy joined First Presbyterian Church of Maumee, where he served on several committees. Other affiliations include Ohio Pharmacists Association, Toledo Academy of Pharmacy, The American Society of Hospital Pharmacists and Kappa Psi Pharmacy Fraternity.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Julie (Michael) Wall; granddaughters, Kendall Dale and Ava Kate Suzanne Wall and sister, Jane Barnard.
