William "Bill" Dunbar, age 71, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, November 30, 2016. He was born on June 15, 1945 in Toledo Ohio. Bill was raised by his mother, and his maternal grandparents, Virgil and Ida Williams, who were very special and the best caregivers. He graduated from Clay High School in 1965. While in high school, he was hired by St. Charles Hospital through a work program and worked for them for 16 years until he had to retire due to health reasons.
During this period of time, Bill developed a real love for horses. He owned three horses and housed them at the Moline Barn. Bill was involved in rodeo's in Grand Rapids, Ohio. He rode the rodeo circuit winning awards and money. He loved 'breaking horses' and bull riding. Bill stated filling in as a clown for the bull riders and soon became known as, "Daffy Flapjack" the clown.
Throughout Bill's lifetime he loved to draw pictures of animals and outdoor scenery. He sold some of his drawings but mostly loved to give them as a gift to friends and family. He also loved hunting and fishing. He belonged to 4-H, Buck Masters Club, Wolf Creek Gun Club, N. American Hunting Club, N. American Fishing Club and the Arbor Day Foundation. Bill loved hunting so much, he requested to wear his camouflage clothes for this final resting place. If you as a guest would like to wear yours to Bill's showing, please feel free to do so.
Bill lived at Luther Hills from 2007 until 2012, when he went to be cared for at the Lutheran Nursing Home.
He is survived by his mother, Vergie Williams and her husband, Thomas Aberl; sisters, Lois (Bob) Manion, Jewell (Tom) Kuszek and Gale (John) Bertram; brothers, Donald Williams; Bill's step-children, Torina, Jimmy and Mary Ann Mack; 4 step-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special friends, Patrick and Denise Hudson; Chuck Farris and life-long friends, Pat Flanagan and Thomas Aberl and all of his outdoor friends, (you know who you are!)
Bill was preceded in death by his grandparents, Virgil and Ida Williams; brothers, Kenneth, Seybert and Gordon Williams; nephew, Bradley TenEyck; sister-in-law, Annette; special friend, Daniel Hudson who he said was his best friend ever.
The family will receive guests on Monday, December 5, 2016 from 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm at Genacross Lutheran Home, 131 N. Wheeling Rd., Toledo, OH 43605. Funeral Services will begin in the chapel at Genacross Lutheran Home at 1:30 p.m.
