William Edward Bigelow, age 74, Toledo resident, passed away Monday evening at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania. Known to most as "Bill", he was born January 10, 1947 in Lima, OH, to the late Jack and Catherine (Swindell) Bigelow.
Bill was a proud graduate of Lima Senior High School, class of 1965, where he was known to his classmates as "Bingy". Later in life, he very much enjoyed being involved with his class reunions.
Duty called in 1966 and Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army and embarked on two tours in Vietnam. Afterwards, he attended Ohio Technical College where he earned a degree in Industrial Electronics. This eventually led him to Southwest Michigan where he was employed by Detroit Edison for almost 30 years.
A family man, Bill enjoyed Ohio State Buckeye football, barbeque, and good, old, American beer. He also enjoyed the company of his friends at the Triple Crown Lounge in West Toledo.
Those carrying on in his name are his two sons, Ben and Bill; and step-daughter, Stephanie; six-grandchildren, Sarah, Coleman, Grace, Jackson, Emerson, and Lauren; and his two nieces, Susan and Janelle.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Nedra "Cookie" Shambarger.
