William A. Slaughterbeck, Sr. was called to heavenly rest May 16, 2012. Born the son of Jane (Daugherty) and Joseph R. Slaughterbeck, Sr., October 7, 1953, he attained the age of 58 years, 7 months and 9 days.
A lifetime resident of Toledo, Bill was a graduate of Macomber Vocational Technical High School. He was previously employed at Champion Sparkplug and the Hilton Hotel of Toledo.
He was the beloved husband of Connie nee' Emline. They were married September 30, 1978 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Toledo, and they enjoyed 33 years together.
Bill enjoyed woodworking and remodeling projects. He was especially fond of water sports including, boating, jet-skiing and he also enjoyed lighthouses. Bill also loved golfing. A confirmed member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, he faithfully worshiped his Savior, Jesus. He very much loved spending time with his dog, "Honey Girl."
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Joseph R. Sr.; brother, Joseph R., Jr.; sisters, Mary Ellen Elting and Jill Slaughterbeck; daughter, Cynthia and mother-in-law, Alma. He is survived by his wife, Connie; son, William Slaughterbeck, Jr.; mother, Jane; aunt, Myrna Keith; God-son, Kenny Wyatt; best friend, Craig Urie; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dave and Luann Emline; brother-in-law, Rick Elting and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 22 from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Services will be conducted Wednesday, May 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, 3340 Nebraska Ave., Toledo. Visitation one hour prior to services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion Ev. Lutheran Church.
