Wilda Kaltenbach, 84, died December 10, 2021 at Ebeid Hospice following a brief illness.
Willie, as she was known to her friends and family was born July 28, 1937 in Flushing, MI, the youngest child of John W. and Ilda McIntosh. She graduated from Flushing High School in 1955 and married Walter Kvintus three weeks later. In 1956 they moved to Toledo and then to Petersburg, MI in 1966. Walter died in 1992, and in 1997 she married Howard Kaltenbach and moved to Weston, OH. She was widowed again in 2010.
Willie loved to travel, visiting all 50 states, all the Canadian provinces, and 14 countries in Europe and Asia. In 2019, after recovering from a fall, she moved to Sylvania to be near her daughter and became one of the first residents of the new Kings Pointe Senior Apartments. She always made friends easily and as more people moved in her circle of friends grew.
In addition to her husbands, Willie was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Russell, sisters, Laura and Elaine, and son, Benjamin who died in infancy in 1963.
She is survived by her daughter Cathy (Robert) Campbell, loving nieces and nephews, special friends, Carol and Jill, and her dear friend Karen who lives in England and whom she had hoped to visit one more time. The many friends she made at Kings Pointe were also very dear to her and became a second family. She was sorry to leave everyone during the Christmas season, her favorite time of the year. In her final days she said "It's been a helluva ride". She embraced life and adventure and took full advantage of everything they offered.
Per her request there will be no funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Toledo Area Humane Society or Ebeid Hospice.
