Whitney Shine

Whitney Shine, age 25, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 10, 2020 at home. She was born on January 5, 1995 to James Matthews and Christine Shine in Oregon, Ohio. Whitney graduated from Whitmer High School in 2013 and was involved in the bowling league. After high school she often enjoyed bowling with her sister and family and friends. Whitney liked doing jigsaw puzzles with her grandpa, James, who passed away in June 2020. She also enjoyed water aerobics with her grandma, making many friends. Whitney's smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her grandpa James Shine, she was preceded in death by her grandma, Mary Matthews. Whitney is survived by her loving parents; mom, Christine Shine; dad, James Matthews; grandma, Carol Shine; grandpa, Fleming Goings; sister, Catherine Shine; several other siblings; many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Monday, December 21, 2020 from 3 – 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). (For the safety of the Shine family and their guests masks are required with social distancing).
