Wayne "Butch" Allen Maier, a veteran of the Vietnam War era and native-born Toledoan, passed away on June 16, 2024 with his wife, Daralyn (Scott) by his side, as she had been for 50 years, along with his adopted daughter, Christie, and dog, Buddy. Butch was born August 18, 1944 to George and Dorothea (Mizer) Maier and attended DeVilbiss High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. Serving on the U.S.S. Norton Sound for his active-duty years, he was enlisted for a total of 8 years.
Butch worked for the Lion store warehouse for 30 years delivering furniture, which inspired his passion for wood working and repair. In his younger years he loved camping, duck hunting, sailing, and fishing where he would revel in the outdoors and fresh air.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Diane. He's survived by his wife, Daralyn; sons, Waynne (Donna), Chris (Michele), Kevin (Kim), and Richard (Brooke); adopted daughter, Christie (Barry), and his brother, Darrell – known as Pete, as well as eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
There will be no services.
