Walter "Walt" Sesevich, age 71 of Holland passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011 in the presence of his loving family at Lake Park Care Center after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 5, 1939 to Ljubomir and Sophie (Novak) Sesevich in New York City, New York. Walt married Patricia "Patty" (Bires) Sesevich and this October they would have celebrated their 48th anniversary. He was a 1958 graduate of South High School in Youngstown, Ohio and following graduation he served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Walt worked for McLean Trucking for 14 years and most recently, X-Press Auto as a Safety Director. For over 7 years, Walt owned Sesevich Trucking, an over-the-road trucking company. He was a member of Vineyard Church of Toledo in Perrysburg where he was a Home Kinship Leader for a number of years and a former member of Bethel Assembly of God. During his own illness, Walt could often be found praying for friends and others who were ill themselves. In his spare time he enjoyed target shooting with his grandson, muscle cars and playing cards with dear friends Andy and Gayle and the Bortles Family.
Preceding him in death were his parents and son, Scott Sesevich. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Patty; grandson, Mathew Sesevich; daughter-in-law, Michelle Sesevich; sister, Irene Veynovich; nephews, Bryan (Dar) and Mitch (Diane) Veynovich; sister-in-law, Nancy (Dan) McDonald; brother-in-law, Jerry (Suzanne) Bires; nieces, Daniella and Adrianne and nephew, Sean.
The family will receive guests Monday from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Michael Henderson and Pastor Clay Stone. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
