Vivian L. Bell, age 83 of Toledo went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Thursday October 17, 2002 in her home surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with Parkinsons and Alzheimers diseases. She was born March 9, 1919 to Floyd A. and Blanche A. (Hubbard) Shaw in Dupont, Ohio. Vivian met and married her husband Roland Bell Sr. on December 31, 1936 and was blessed with 65 years of marriage. Vivian was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She served for many years as a secretary for the Adult Bible school Class through the church. Vivian was an accomplished pianist, organist and poet. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Vivian was preceded in death by brothers; Lyman, Rollie and Byron Shaw, sisters; Lillian Truby, Nela Brown and Beverly Dodd. Vivian is survived by her loving husband of 65 years; Roland W. Bell Sr., daughter; Karen Wyatt Smith, who lovingly cared for her mom the last 2.5 years, sons; Floyd (Mary Ann) Bell and Roland (Debbie) Bell Jr. and, sister; Florence Shaw all of Toledo, grandchildren; Keith (Ann) Wyatt, Eileen (Curtis) Holzschuh, Cathy (Stacy) White all of Florida, Lisa (Rick) Urban of GA., David Wyatt, Jeanette (David) Ueberroth of Toledo and Matthew (Darlene) Bell of SC., 21 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests Monday from 2-8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer-Farley Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral services will be Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. Emmanuel Baptist Church, 4207 W. Laskey Rd. Officiating will be Pastor Bruce Snyder. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.

The Bell Family wishes to thank Mary Barrington, Jackie Spindlar and Aimee Garza of Caring Services, Dr. Crotte and the staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the loving care and support they provided to Vivian. A very special thank you to Pastor and Mrs. Charles Vermilyea for their faithful visits, love and encouragement and singing to Vivian.

The family requests Memorial contributions be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church in Vivian's name.
