Virginia Susan Wernimont, age 98, of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at the Rosary Care Center, Sylvania. She was born in Toledo to Simon and Gertrude (Kessler) Boes and shared the February 19th birth date with two of her sisters, Mary and Sister Mary Jean Francis SND.
Virginia attended St. Mary grade school and in 1932 was a graduate of Notre Dame High School. She married John J. Wernimont in 1937. Virginia was preceded in death by John in 1992 after a long and happy marriage. She was an active leader and volunteer at St. Mary's and St. Catherine's Parishes. Virginia sewed clothes for herself and made innumerable quilts and toys for the entire family. She kept abreast with the regular Blade editorials, was an avid reader, emailed daily, played computer games and Playstation.
Virginia is survived by her children, Bill (Karen) Wernimont, of Ellenton, FL, Mary Ann Dudderar, of Toledo, Carole (Tom) White, of Westerville, OH and Rick (Carol) Wernimont, of Temperance, MI; daughter-in-law, Barbara Wernimont, of Plymouth, MI; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Jane Werner, of Warren, MI, Richard Boes, of Wake Forest, NC, Sister Mary Jean Francis SND, of Toledo; and many other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jim Wernimont, son-in-law, Jim Dudderar and 9 siblings.
The family will receive guests on Saturday from 9 – 11:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4555 North Haven, Toledo, with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the church. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The Newcomer Funeral Home (419-473-0300) assisted the family with professional services.
