Virgil J. Futey, age 72, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2006 in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born October 5, 1933 to Dennis and Mary (Gewjski) Futey in Toledo. Virgil was employed with Daimler Chrysler Jeep for 33 years, retiring in July of 1992. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving in Korea. He was also a member of the UAW. Virgil enjoyed spending time on his swing in his yard watching the birds. He was an avid outdoorsman spending time camping, hunting, fishing and playing horseshoes. Most importantly Virgil cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Virgil was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Wisnewski; brothers, Daniel "Sam" and Joe Futey and brother-in-law, Jim Wisnewski. He is survived by his loving daughters, Julie (Edward) Wilson of Adrian, MI and Janet (Dale) Lakey of Hurst, TX; grandchildren, Megan Wilson; Jimmy; Cameron and Mitchell Lakey; brothers, Leonard (Sharon) and Robert (Ann) Futey and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family will receive guests Thursday from 2-8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home Officiating will be Fr. Marek Ciesla. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
