Viola Amelia Beckman

Viola Amelia Beckman, age 90, of Toledo, passed away, September 8, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 9, 1926 to Carl and Freda (Reimschuessel) Beckman in Toledo. Vi worked for Oracle packaging for 45 years before retiring. She was the treasurer of the United Paper Workers Union, Local 1263 for 17 years. Vi loved gardening, fishing, enjoyed teaching, playing the organ and making music arrangements. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Beckman; nephew, Robert A. Beckman; niece, Deborah Maly; and sister-in-law, Millie Beckman. Vi is survived by her great-niece, Lori (Bobby) Pratt; niece, Sally Beckman; great-nephew, Jon (Denise) Beckman; other great-nieces, Kathy (Dennis) Layman and Kristina Yglesias; nephew, Raymond (Sheila) Beckman; special cousin, Diana (Joe) Stricker; and many other nieces, nephews and special friends in music.

The family will receive guests on Thursday from 4 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
