Vincent P. Yancey Jr., age 89, of Toledo, passed from this life on Friday, October 19, 2018 in the presence of his loving family. He was born April 5, 1929 in Omar West Virginia to Mr. and Mrs. Vincent and Hattie (Haywood) Yancey Sr.
He married Rosalind E. Kine on December 12, 1954. He loved all of his family and relatives very much and enjoyed the times spent with them as well as friends. He was a 1948 graduate of Olney High School in Northwood Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a Surgical Technician with the 64th Field Hospital from 1951 to 1953. He worked for Libby Owens Ford after his military service for 38 years until he retired in the 1990's.
He built three homes from the ground up during his life and there was nothing he was not able to repair. If someone needed to know how to do something he was the man to talk with. He was very educated and continued to learn things all during his life. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Northwood, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, Vincent was also preceded in death by his loving wife Rosalind of 48 years; Children, Melissa and Mark Yancey; Great-Granddaughters, Savannah Trevino, Aaliyah Smith and Brother Jacob Yancey.
Left to cherish his love and memories are his children, Vincent Paul (Trisha) Yancey, III, David Yancey, Jeffrey Yancey, Julie (Mark) Lutes, James Yancey; Great-Grandson, Dustin Kraft, 6 Grandchildren; 25 Great-Grandchildren; 3 Great-Great Grandchildren; Sisters, Rosemary McCutcheon, Joyce Jenkins, Deborah (Joe) Rizzi, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive guests Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Newcomer Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419) 473-0300. A Funeral Service will begin Wednesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home followed by a Graveside Service at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, Toledo.
