Catherine "Kack" Kramer, 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4, 2008. She was born on December 22, 1911 to Homer and Florence (Hathaway) Cureton in Owensboro, Kentucky. Catherine married Leo Kramer in Toledo on September 14, 1929 and he preceded her in death in 2001. Catherine and Leo resided happily together as constant companions, inseparable for 72 years. They were blessed with 3 loving children with whom they share many happy memories. Catherine enjoyed cooking. She and Leo owned and operated Kramer's Confectionary and Kramer's Delicatessen, where they worked side-by-side preparing favorite family recipes. They also managed several apartment complexes in the Toledo and Monroe Michigan areas. A large part of Catherine's life was devoted to raising and training her favorite chows. All who knew her would remember her most for her modest, humble demeanor who gave endlessly to her marriage and family.
Catherine is survived by her sons, Leo (Rita) Kramer, Sr. and Robert (Cindy) Kramer; daughter, Beverly (Harold) Gerding; grandsons, Lee, Cole, Robert and Jeff Kramer and Robert and Joseph Wernert; granddaughters, Gail Smenner, Kathy Helou, Beverly Forrey, Kristine Joseph, Jill DeGrier, Layne Kramer, Deborah McCune and Beverly Karabin; 35 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren and also surviving is Crystal Kramer.
In addition to her husband, Leo, Catherine was preceded in death by sisters, Marybelle Feak, Margaret O'Neil and Anna Cureton; brother, Eugene Cureton and daughter-in-law, Nancy Kramer; grandson, Michael Kramer and granddaughter, Lynda Kramer Goodremont.
The family will receive guests Tuesday from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
