Victor J. Lewton passed on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Toledo Hospital after a very short illness. At the time of his passing he was surrounded by his family. Victor was born in Toledo on June 2, 1951 to the late Chet and Rosemary Lewton. His brother, Jeffery Lewton also preceded him.
He and his partner John Kopka started Toledo Quality Meats on Cherry Street. Vic went on to work for House of Meats until his passing.
Vic's memory will be carried on by his wife, Nancy McClintic Lewton blessed by a union that lasted 33 years which bestowed the gift of his son, Travis. Siblings, Cindy (David) Nissen, Kip (Gina), Laurie (Mark) Rigg and a host of nephews and nieces.
Vic enjoyed working on his lawn, watching the Tigers, Lions and Redwings with his best friend, Bernard Mast. With the help of Travis and his friends, Vic and Bernie, would put on a fireworks display that was the envy of the neighborhood and could be enjoyed as far away as Rossford, Ohio. Vic was always with his faithful dog Rocky, which was one of the many dogs he saved from the streets of Toledo.
Vic was a man of few words with a compassionate heart.
Vic's family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses who cared for him at Toledo Hospital.
The family will receive guests Friday, March 21, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Funeral services will be held Friday at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Maumee Valley Save-A-Pet, 5250 Hill Ave, Toledo, Ohio 43615 in Vic's memory.
