Velma Jean Smith "TCB VEL", age 68, of Toledo, passed away December 2, 2013. Velma was born January 1, 1945 in Sylvania to David and Hazel (Paschen) Miller. She was a courageous breast cancer survivor, being diagnosed in 2010. Vel loved to travel, sing karaoke, was a life long Elvis fanatic and was loved worldwide.
Velma is survived by her loving husband Thomas of 47 wonderful years; loving children, Michael (Chawee), Michele Gaertner, Edward (Christine), Ronald (Lisa), Susan Smith; 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; sisters, Donna Young, Betty Miller and 3 half sisters; also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Sadly, she was preceded in death by her parents, David and Hazel; sisters, Rose Hara and Jeannette Duffy; and 2 grandchildren.
The family will receive guests Monday, December 9, 2013 from 2-8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home 4150 W. Laskey Road, (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Tuesday, December 10, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
