Urban "Yub" Edinger, age 86, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 26, 1925 to Louis and Laura (Lauer) Edinger in Stroh, Indiana. After graduating from Burnham High School in Sylvania, he served his country proudly in the U.S. Coast Guard on the U.S.S. Wakefield, transporting troops to Normandy in WWII. Urban will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William; sisters, Edna Hudanski and Erma Postlewait; brothers, Lawrence, Jacob, Woodrow, Kenneth, Gerald and Elwood Edinger. Urban is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Helen (Comstock) Edinger; children, Sylvia, Robert (Mary), Gloria (John) Wilson, Philip (Janice), Connie (Joseph) Muniz and Suzanne (Christopher) Wilson; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Kendra.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Dean Angell. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
