On June 12, 1930, Ulysses Dailey was born to the late Jim and Annie Lee Brown Dailey in Evergreen, Alabama. He departed his life on October 7, 2022.
Ulysses confessed his faith in Christ at an early age at First Baptist Church in Evergreen, Alabama under the pastorate of Reverend H. J. Hawkins. He later became a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church, Toledo, Ohio under the pastorate of Reverend H. M. Crenshaw, where he remained a loving and faithful member until his death.
On July 1, 1951, he married the late Ruth Alene Simpson. They became the blessed and proud parents of three daughters, Joann (Arthur) Davis of Bay Minette, AL, Carolene Martin of Detroit, MI, and the late Pauline Priscilla Dailey. He was also the father of the late Rochelle Gray.
During 1963, Ulysses moved to Toledo, Ohio and was employed at Alloy Foundry for 20 years.
On June 7, 1982, he married the late Shirley J. Howard and adopted her daughter, Evelyn Marshall and son, George Marshall from Toledo, Ohio. They were married for 26 years.
He was an active member of the St. Anthony Masonic Lodge #21, Toledo, Ohio for many years.
Ulysses enjoyed playing dominoes, fishing, visiting family and friends, and singing in the Jerusalem Baptist Church Men's Chorus and The Mass Choir.
In addition to his wife, Shirley; parents, Jim and Annie; and daughters, Priscilla and Rochelle, he was also preceded in death by five sisters, Hattie Hawkins, Lillie Bracy, Eva Pearl Holifield, Christine Perish, and Pearlie Mae Miner; and five brothers, James, Cleveland, Sr., Leroy, Dan, and Charlie Lee Dailey.
His memory will be cherished by his daughters, son-in-law, adopted daughter and son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. As well as his sisters, Martha Sanders (special sister), and Rose Williams of Columbus, OH; brothers, Jimmie Dailey of Pensacola, FL, Billie Joe Dailey (Elnora), Charles Dailey and Emmett Dailey of Columbus, OH; Anna Adkins (special niece) of Toledo, OH, and other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive guests on Friday, October 14, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 445 Dorr St, Toledo, where a Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will immediately follow at Forest Cemetery.
