Dr. Timothy R. Loeb, Ph.D., age 81, of Toledo, entered eternal life on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Franciscan Care Center. He was born on March 20, 1935 to Edwin and Lisl Loeb in Oakland, California. Timothy received his Ph.D. from Rockefeller University in New York City. He spent several years in Cali, Columbia where he taught biology and he and his wife Mary also founded the Instituto Tobias Emanuel, in honor of their son, Tobias. Tim loved music, especially playing the guitar and he was an avid reader.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Tobias; daughter, Chia; and his first wife, Mary (Butler) Hojnacki. Timothy is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Nancy (Payne) Loeb; children, Julie Garcia, Paul (Ketty) Loeb, Christina (Jim) Freed, Alejo (Shirley) Loeb, Marcelino Loeb, Pio Loeb, Sofie Loeb, Laura Loeb and Emily Loeb; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; siblings, Barbara Kennedy, Peter (Jane) Loeb and Alison (David) O'Brien-Schardt; and many dear friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Martin de Porres, 1119 W. Bancroft St., Toledo, OH with visitation one hour prior in church. The Newcomer Funeral Home – NW Chapel assisted the family with professional services.
