Timothy Joseph Ireland of Richmond VA passed on peacefully and with dignity November 12, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Perrysburg, he was 59. He was born September 15, 1955 in Toledo Ohio to Eugene and Grace (Welter) Ireland.
Timothy was preceded in death by his father Eugene and brother Terrence. He is survived by his mother Grace Ireland, sisters Maureen Ireland (Jonathan Blinn) and Kathleen Ireland, brother Patrick Ireland (Patricia Brown), children Chelsea, Hayden and Griffin Ireland, granddaughter Finley, and dearest friend and creative partner Elizabeth Ernest.
Tim was a lifelong artist, musician (piano and vocals) and songwriter who recorded, performed and toured in over a dozen bands in the Toledo area. Upon graduating from the University of Toledo Film School, his student film The Fifth Beatle received high honors in the Sony American Film Institute competition and his song Motel Room was selected as a finalist in the John Lennon songwriting competition.
Tim enjoyed a multi-faceted video production career as a Director-Producer and Editor for numerous production houses in Richmond including V.A.E., V.A.V.S. and WRIC Channel 8. He covered dozens of political dignitaries shooting for CNN News and C-span. He produced and edited documentaries and training films winning numerous Telly awards over the years. He went on to produce TV commercials for Channel 8 for the last 10 years.
Tim's love for the theatre inspired him to write and produce 4 plays and he directed over 10 plays at numerous venues including Firehouse Theatre, The Science Museum of Virginia and Triangle Theatre in Richmond. He served as a Board Member for the Firehouse Theatre for 3 years. Tim's expansive love for music, laughter and the creative process will continue in the hearts of all who knew him. He was a rare talent, a loving father and precious friend.
A memorial mass will be held Saturday, November 15, 2014 beginning at 1:30pm at Saint Joseph Church Maumee, 104 West Broadway.
A Celebration of Life event is being planned for his friends and family in the Richmond area, TBD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tim's memory to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA - Eastern Regional Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA. 1331 East Wyoming Ave. 19124). Please state the donation is for -The Health Care Assistance Fund, this is used to help those in need of financial support during their cancer treatment.
