Tilmon Whitehead

Tilmon "Tim" Whitehead, age 83, of Holland, Ohio, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at The Grove at Oakleaf Village. Tim was born on January 13, 1940, in Paint Cliff, Kentucky, to the late Robert and Dessie (Clark) Whitehead.

In the late 1960's early 1970's, Tim was part owner and operator of SOHIO service station for 10 years. He worked as a mechanic at Nickles Bakery, where he retired after 25 dedicated years. Tim was a member of the Maumee Eagles, Delta Eagles, and was President of Progressive Civic Club in Swanton. Tim enjoyed listening to Blue Grass music and was in a band called Glass City Grass. Known as a serious game player with a competitive side, Tim would do everything 100%; he enjoyed playing card games, such as Euchre, playing pool, bowling, go-cart racing, and was a season ticket holder for the Toledo Storm Hockey team. A love for the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, boating, gardening, and also raised hogs and cattle. Most of all, family was most important, especially his grandchildren. Tim's smile, stubbornness, and love will forever be missed by those who knew him. This isn't goodbye, but we will see you later…

Those left to forever cherish his memory are his loving children, Mary (Mark) Chaney, Ronnie (Brenda) Whitehead, Karen (Zachary) Brown, and Christine (Ross) Rollins; 8 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; 3 step great great grandchildren; brothers, Leamon (Patty) Whitehead, Litton (Vallery) Whitehead, Glenn (Jean) Whitehead, Warren (Kathy) Whitehead, James Whitehead, Gale (Wanda) Whitehead; sisters, Brenda (Jim) Meece, Margie Whitehead, Martha Taylor, and Kimberly Whitehead; sister-in-law, Candy Whitehead; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Tim was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 ½ years, Della Whitehead, whom he married on June 28, 1957; infant sister, Magdaline Whitehead; sister, Linda Meece; brother, Larry Whitehead; and sister-in-laws, Kim and Becky Whitehead.

The family would like to thank Swanton Healthcare and Retirement Center, especially Vickie, for her loving care she gave to Tim and his family. Tim's family would also like to thank the caregivers at The Grove and Sean with Ohio Living Hospice for everything he did in making Tim comfortable.

Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo, Ohio 43614, on Sunday, April 23, 2023, from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Monday, April 24, 2023, from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral at 11:00 am, with Bro. Leamon Whitehead officiating. Tim will be laid to rest, next to his loving wife, at Wolfinger Cemetery.
