Thomas Richard Zacharias
Thomas Richard Zacharias, age 78, of Toledo, passed away, Monday, October 19th, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 12th, 1931 to John and Elizabeth (Fisher) Zacharias in Toledo, Ohio. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving his country proudly. Thomas was in the construction industry, employed with Local 18 for more than 25 years. He was also a volunteer Fireman for Adams Township. Thomas will be remembered as a Nascar fan. He enjoyed traveling overseas during his military service and then throughout the United States during his later years with his family. Thomas was also an avid gardener, enjoying time out of doors.
In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 8 brothers. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Nancy J. Zacharias; daughters, Karen Zacharias and Paula (Donald) Cole; grandchildren, Terri (Steve); Raymond; Nicole and Bryan and great grandchildren, Brooke; Michael; McKenzie; Gavin; Aubrey and Ethan and dear neighbors and friends.
The Family will receive guests Thursday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
Those wishing to make Memorial Contributions are asked to consider the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
