It is with great sadness that Thomas R. Sturgill age 52, of Toledo, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, June 7th, 2011 at the University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born April 24th, 1959 to Ronald and Violet (Relyea) Sturgill in Toledo. Tom attended Lark Lane School, where he played basketball and always said he was the "star" of the team. After school Tom went on to work with Lott Industries for more than 30 years. He was a member of Miss Cue Pool League and People First, which is a strong advocate for people with special needs. Tom was a hard worker but made friends easily. He had wonderful sense of humor and loved joking around with everyone. Tom will be remembered for his warm smile and the special nicknames he gave to everyone. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and co-workers.
Tom is survived by his loving father, Ronald (Shirley) Sturgill; brother, Bruce Sturgill; stepsisters, Tami (Alan) Ellison and Debbie (Bryan) Wisbon; nieces, Shannon (Matt) Bova and Samantha Wisbon; nephews, Josh Pelton, Michael Mitchell, Dustin (Amanda) Ellison and Robbie Ellison; uncles, Russell and Dennis (Virginia) Sturgill and cousins, Anita (Chris) Stoddard and Bobby (Judy) Sangstock who he had a special and close relationship with. Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Violet (Relyea) Sturgill.
The family will receive guests Friday from 4-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Maumee United Methodist Church, 405 Sackett St. Maumee, where guests may gather from 9:00 a.m. until the service begins. Officiating will be Pastor Scot Ocke. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
