Thomas Michael Smith

Thomas Michael Smith, age 77, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on November 10, 2022, at Yuma Regional Medical Center in Yuma, Arizona. Thomas was born June 7, 1945 in Akron, Ohio, to the late Richard and Anna (Walsh) Smith.

Thomas was a graduate of Whitmer High School, where he graduated in 1963. He proudly served in the United States Army. He worked out of Local 50 and was a Plumber/Pipefitter starting his career young until retirement, something he was very proud of. Thomas was a member of the VFW Post 2898, which there, he and his son were part of the Military Support Group. He enjoyed anything outdoors, whether it was fishing, camping, farming, or tending to his beautiful garden, which he took pride in. Thomas liked going to the casinos, traveling to Memphis for Elvis week and the Kentucky Derby betting on the horses. His smile, delicious cookies, and love will forever be remembered and missed. Those left to forever cherish his memory are his loving children, Michael Smith, Michele (Bob Stoldt) Gaertner, Edward (Christine) Smith, Ronald (Lisa) Smith, and Susan Smith; grandchildren, Primrose, Audie, Tyler, Kelsey, Cooper, Amanda, Edward II, Gavin, Greyson, Brock, Eddie, Natia, VelaMae, and Alyson; great grandchildren, Connor, Presley, and Connor; brother, Delbert (Josie) Smith; sister-in-laws, Penny Smith and Donna Young; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loved ones.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Velma (Miller) Smith, whom he married on July 30, 1966; two grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters.

Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Monday, November 21, 2022, from 4:00 pm until the time of prayers at 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at 10:00 am. Thomas will be laid to rest, next to his wife, at Toledo Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist in funeral expenses.
