Thomas Robert Posta

June 12, 1945 — October 15, 2019

Tom grew up in the suburbs of Garfield Heights, Cleveland which was populated predominately by first and second-generation Eastern European families.

The Posta household placed a high value on the merit of obtaining a formal education. Tom's mother, Jean was instrumental in being an advocate for his success in school and inspiring him to strive for a post-secondary degree.
Tom was also a diligent student in high school.

Meanwhile the Posta household revolved around a strong interest in sports lead by his father. His dad was a revered athlete by his peers and excelled in most sports, especially baseball and tennis. In the 50's baseball was the "National Pastime" by many and that was quite obvious in the Posta Family. Tom, with his dad's encouragement, became interested in baseball, gravitating toward jobs related to statistics in baseball games in the greater Cleveland area.

After high school and a couple of years of employment, Tom enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he was recognized for his success in a class focused on training enrollees for record-keeping positions. This attribute was due to his similar devotion and interest in data associated with records achieved by the Cleveland Indians Baseball Team.

With 2 years in the service under his belt, Tom left the U.S. Army and received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Northeast Louisiana University, which made his family extremely proud of him and his accomplishment. During his tenure at Northeast Louisiana Tom served as a Counselor for students at one of the dormitories at the college.

Throughout his life Tom dealt with adversity, battling several disorders, coping the best he could. The VA was very supportive in providing medical and housing situations for a majority of his adult life.

Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Marie and father, Charles James Posta. He is survived by his brother, James; sister-in-law, Betty; nephews, Chris and Darrin; niece, Jill and numerous cousins.

There will be no visitation for Tom and Burial services will be Private. Newcomer – Southwest Chapel, Toledo (419-381-1900) assisted the family with professional services.
