Thomas R. Perna

Thomas R. Perna, age 80, of Waterville, Ohio passed away March 17, 2017 at The Toledo Hospital. He was born July 16, 1936 in Toledo to Anthony and Millie (Casertano) Perna. Tom served his country in the U.S. Army. He was employed with Columbia Gas for more than 35 years retiring in 1993. Tom enjoyed golfing, playing pool, and he was an avid Notre Dame fan.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Shirley A. Perna; children, Anthony J. Perna, Timothy F. Perna and Gina M. Perna; grandchildren, Travis A. Perna, Zachary T. Perna, Hannah G. Perna and Gabrielle M. Hirth; and sister, Rosemary (John) McGurk; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his sister, Rita Lee.

The family will receive guests Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900), where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will begin Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Joseph Church Maumee, 104 West Broadway, Maumee, Ohio. A private burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospitals or the charity of the donor's choice in Tom's memory.
