Thomas H. Pelphrey, age 80, of Toledo, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2007 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 15, 1926 to Labe and Lou (Williams) Pelphrey in Denver, Kentucky. Thomas was a longtime resident of Toledo. He was employed with Coke Company, General Motors, Wentz Trucking and Jet Express for many years. Thomas was also a member of the Coke-a-Cola Retirees Club and Northwest Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his infant son, Landon Pelphrey; brother, Vencil Pelphrey; sisters, Agnes Howard, Bonnie Castle, Mary Margaret; Opal Pelphrey and Oka McKenzie and son-in-law, Jim Lake. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Rita (Opfermann) Pelphrey; children, Thomas (Carolyn) Pelphrey, Jr.; Wanda Lou Lewis; Rebecca (Dave) Smith; Nancy Lake; Roxann Pelphrey; Virginia (Richard) Weeman; Gary Opfermann; Vicki (Dennis) Oberski; Bill (Rebecca Dare) Opfermann; Alan (Darla) Opfermann; Judith (Al) Simmons; Thomas (Jane) Opfermann; Mary (Paul) Sopsack; Jim (Tammy) Opfermann; Susan Opfermann; Annette (Greg Nusbaum) Opfermann and John Opfermann; many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings: Juanita Holbrook and Doris Jean Borders.
The family will receive guests Wednesday from 2-8:00 p.m. in Ansberg West Funeral Home, 3000 W. Sylvania Ave. Funeral Services will be Friday at Tarklan Baptist Church, Paintsville, Kentucky.
