Thomas P. Frisch, age 84, of Toledo, passed away on July 20, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 5, 1929 in Toledo to Helen Frisch and raised by Helen and Herbert Frisch.
He attended Woodward High School playing drums in the marching and jazz bands. Tom was a jack of all trades with a passion for nature and music. He was a naturalist and a conservationist. He was well known throughout the state for his fishing and hunting skills, mentoring many. He became passionate over the decline of the snapping turtle and spent much of his time raising and releasing them into the wild. Tom was also well known for his art of taxidermy. Some of his work is on display in The Toledo Zoo and other area wildlife museums. He was also well known as a musician in the jazz field and played in many local establishments.
Tom is survived by his daughters; Carol Ann Howell, Darlene (Eugene) Rasczyk, Karen (Vincent) Dombrowski, Sharon Frisch and Tim Eriksen, Jennifer Frisch and Daryl Darr, grandchildren; Amy Jo Cole, Brandon Rasczyk, Charann Mosier, Brianne Frobose, Allie, V.J., and Annie Dombrowski, and Emma Lee Frisch, great-grandsons; Sam and Miles Cole. He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Charlene.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, July 24 from Noon until 5:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419) 473-0300. A sharing of memories will take place at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
