Thomas "Tim" Meek, age 78, of Toledo, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at home with his wife by his side. He was born on August 6, 1936 to Edwin and Dorothy Meek in Toledo. Tim was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving his country proudly. He was employed with the United States Postal Service for 38 years before retiring. Tim was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3265, Point Place and of the NALC. He enjoyed fishing, was an avid sports fan, especially for The Ohio State Buckeyes, and loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends. Tim will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Meek; and sister, Charlene Ramsey. Tim is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, JoEllen (Hughes) Meek; children, Bruce (Meg) Meek, Tina (Pat) Dennis and Scott (Meg) Meek; grandchildren, Michael, Mallory, Jacob, Joshua, Aidan and Delaney; sisters, Rose Kallil, Margie Zmijewski and Pat (Gary) Hudson; sister-in-law, Gail Meek; brother-in-law, Roger Ramsey; and many other relatives and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Monday from 3 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with a Scripture Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4555 North Haven, Toledo.
